USC Trojans QB Cody Kessler, and fullback Soma Vainuku have accepted invites to 2016 Senior Bowl which will be played on January 30, 2016 in Mobile Alabama. The Senior Bowl invites the top seniors and other top draft prospects from around the country to work with coaches from the National Football league in preparation for the upcoming NFL draft.
Kessler's final season with USC may not have lived up to the expectations but he still managed to produce 3,315 yards on the year with 28 touchdowns to 6 interceptions in the middle of coaching change and a offensive philosophy shift to much more run-heavy offense. Kessler heads to the Senior with his fellow Pac-12 quarterback Kevin Hogan of Stanford who has also accepted an invite.
Soma Vainuku, like many fullbacks did not have the jaw-dropping glamour statistics like total yards or touchdowns. Vainuku's contributions came largely on special teams and run blocking. If he can impress in the senior bowl it may help him find a home with an NFL team that needs a quality special teams player or a fullback who can move a pile or open a hole.
The list of Pac-12 Players who have accepted Senior Bowl invites so far are as follows:
Joe Dahl, OT Washington State
Ka'imi Fairbairn, PK UCLA
Jason Fanaika, DE Utah
