According to NBC News, USC Trojans starting left tackle Chad Wheeler was involved in an altercation earlier this morning. NBC News is reporting that Los Angeles officers responded to a call at 8:45 a.m. P.T. because a man was punching walls and windows and injured his hands inside an apartment near USC's campus.

Wheeler was the man who was identified at the scene where he could of "possibly" been under the influence of drugs or alcohol according to the report. He was confronted by officers where an altercation took place and Wheeler was hit with bean bag rounds.

Wheeler was not arrested but was transported to a local hospital where he is currently under protective custody for psychiatric evaluation.

When asked why Wheeler wasn't at practice today, USC HC Clay Helton said that Wheeler was dealing with a "personal issue" according to LA Times reporter Gary Klein.
