We are expanding! . . . Now onto the links.
Lots has happened over the past couple days. Steve Sarkisian was fired from his position as Head Coach at USC, which presumably had something to do with off-field problems as well as his record. Clay Helton was named interim head coach for the Trojans. This was all explained in a press conference held Tuesday by Helton and AD Pat Haden, where Haden defended his decisions and stated his support for Helton in the interim.
University President Max Nikias has voiced his continued support for Haden in the ongoing search for a new and (hopefully) permanent head coach. You can follow along with any and all developments in the ongoing search here, as well as get Nick Barbarino's take on the top five coaches that the university should try and target.
And the search can't get going fast enough, with star recruits dropping left and right in the ensuing chaos and uncertainty. Under the circumstances of course, no one can blame them, but it does sting a little knowing that come next season 5-star linebacker Mique Juarez and 3-star wide out Velus Jones Jr. probably won't be wearing cardinal and gold. Good odds we haven't heard the last from this dwindling recruiting class either.
That's it for the roundup of what's on the site, a quick look at what's up around the web shows Grantland, the LA Times, and Bleacher Report taking different looks at where USC goes from here. Meanwhile ESPN gives you a complete timeline of events, and CBS Local and Sports Illustrated have their own reactions to Haden's handling of the whole situation.
