Former USC special teams coach John Baxter will be joining Jim Harbaugh at the University of Michigan and is expected to coach special teams.
Baxter was let go by Steve Sarkisian in 2013, but had coached the Trojans for the four seasons prior under Lane Kiffin as the special teams and tight ends coach, as well as an associate head coach. Baxter coached for thirteen years before that at Fresno State.
The former Trojan was responsible for implementing the now nationally-regarded "Academic Gameplan" initiative, a program that teaches athletes how to be successful in the classroom.
Baxter will join Tim Drevno, DJ Durkin and Jimmie Dougherty as assistants on the Wolverines' staff.
