Josh Shaw only played in three games this past season, but he is beginning to make the strong case why prospective NFL teams should draft the former USC Trojan captain early in the 2015 NFL Draft.
"If you want a long, fast, physical corner, draft Josh Shaw," he told Taylor Price of 49ers.com. FULL INTERVIEW
After the first few days of practice from Mobile, Ala., Shaw has emerged as one of the more physical corners in Senior Bowl practices. His efforts have certainly been noticed working in front of all 32 NFL teams in attendance with some scouts specifically focusing on improving their depth at the cornerback position.
The 6'1",198-pound cornerback joins fellow USC Trojan Hayes Pullard for the North Squad at Saturday's Senior Bowl which will be telecast live on NFL Network. While a majority of the questions focus on his blatant lie back in August, Shaw wants to make sure every scout and general manager are completely on the same page.
"I realize where each of my mistakes were," Shaw told Sports Illustrated on Wednesday. "I think that's important to [NFL teams], that I know where I messed up and what I could have done different. It's important to be transparent with them."
The Senior Bowl pits some of the best draft-ready talent in a week of intense tryouts, and Shaw firmly believes that an NFL team would greatly benefit by adding his physical services on the outside. Shaw nabbed an interception in the East-West Shrine Game and a good performance this weekend could go a long way towards raising his draft stock.
