The USC Trojans climbed back, down 13 with less than seven minutes to play, and combo guard Jordan McLaughlin had the basketball in his hand with a chance to win the game.
But sadly for USC, the talented freshman who was returning from a shoulder injury, slipped on the court and turned over the basketball in the final seconds. USC had three players score in double figures led by 16 from Julian Jacobs, McLaughlin (14) and also sophomore Nikola Jovanovic (13), who's now reached double figures for 11 straight contests.
Coach Andy Enfield was proud of the effort from his squad, and thought that the loss provided an encouraging sign as to what it takes to compete in the Pac-12 on a night-in and night-out basis. But at the end of a back-and-forth affair with plenty of drama down the stretch, Stanford pulled out a 78-76 thrilling win from the Galen Center.
Here are the highlights from USC's comeback effort against Stanford which fell just short at the buzzer: http://t.co/7Fz2oCgQkv #FightOn
