On Sunday, USC announced the game time and TV network information for next weekend's game on Saturday, October 4. The Trojans' home game against Arizona State was selected by FOX for their nationally televised 4:30 p.m. PT time slot.
The 4:30 p.m. game will make for some great photos since there should plenty of sunshine...since it's supposed to be 94 degrees at the time of kickoff.
Like USC, Arizona State is used to the physical heat. However, the Sun Devils wilted under the fire UCLA brought Thursday night, losing 62-27 after once leading 17-6.
The Arizona State Sun Devils sport the same 3-1 record as USC. However, the Trojans have a 2-0 advantage in Pac-12 play while ASU is 1-1 following the Thursday night loss.
The Sun Devils opened the season with three straight wins, beating Weber State, 45-14, before a 58-23 victory on a trip to Albuquerque to play New Mexico. Arizona State opened the conference schedule with a 38-24 win at Colorado, but lost quarterback Taylor Kelly to an injured ankle.
Kelly missed the UCLA game, thrusting Mike Bercovici into the spotlight. Bercovici looked good at times, but made some bad decisions as first-time starters are apt to do. He finished 42-for-68 for 488 yards and three touchdowns, but he also tossed two interceptions, including Ishmael Adams' 95-yard interception return for a touchdown.
While Kelly's availability for this weekend is still unknown, Bercovici will likely grow from the UCLA loss, and could be a dangerous weapon, if needed.
The Trojans lead the all-time series 18-11 and have a 10-4 record at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Importantly, the home team has won the last four year. USC lost 62-41 in Tempe, Arizona last year when the two teams squared off. The game became even more notable when Lane Kiffin was fired on the tarmac at Los Angeles International Airport when the Trojans returned back to LA.
