What better way to create some passionate awareness and raise some heartfelt funds for Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as "Lou Gehrig's Disease," than by getting some star-studded Trojans immersed in the ice-cold conversation.
The challenge involves people getting doused with buckets of ice water on video, posting that video to social media, then nominating others to do the same, all in an effort to raise ALS awareness. Those who refuse to take the challenge are asked to make a $100 donation to the ALS charity of their choice.
It all started when Pat Haden was put on the spot by his son, Ryan. Mr. Haden, being the ever-friendly and always social media savvy Athletic Director, responded with the help of his grandchildren and put the entire football team on high alert.
Backed against the wall by his long-term boss, USC head coach Steve Sarkisian took center stage following the Trojans' Sunday morning Fall Camp practice over on Howard Jones Field. It involved the help of his entire team, but Sarkisian accepted the challenge placing his mentor Pete Carroll on the 24-hour clock for ALS awareness.

Knowing coach Pete Carroll, this challenge is far from being over and plenty of current and former USC legends will be put on the Ice Bucket chopping block in the days to come.
