Sam Darnold, perhaps the most highly touted 2015 QB recruit over the summer, announced today that he intends to play his college football for the University of Southern California.
The 3-star QB out of San Clemente High School in Southern California becomes the second QB to commit to the Trojans 2015 recruiting class, joining forces with fellow 5-star QB Ricky Town (St. Bonaventure).
The duo is already very familiar with each other, having competed at both the Elite 11 and "The Opening" together. And it appears that they will continue to compete with each other for the Trojan's prestigious starting QB.
The 6-foot-4, 208 pound dual-threat quarterback in Darnold was also weighing offers from Pac-12 schools Oregon and Duke, among others.
He is also a stand-out basketball player at SCHS, having been named the Sea View League MVP in his sophomore season.
Darnold is the 12th commitment in the Trojan's 2015 recruiting class, leaving coach Steve Sarkisian with 13 more scholarship spots to fill.
