In the final day and basically the final hour of The Opening, four-star offensive lineman Andre James made his announcement live on ESPNU committing to cross-town rival UCLA over the likes of USC, Oklahoma and Ohio State.
James ultimately decided playing for Jim Mora's Bruins and No. 1 pocket passer Josh Rosen would be best for his future. The Trojans 10-man recruiting class still features five-star offensive lineman Chuma Edoga, but adding someone as versatile as James would have been a nice addition for coach Tim Drevno.
While James has shuffled around the offensive line throughout his recruitment, including increased reps as guard over the course of The Opening, the four-star prospect is ready to hit the field at guard or tackle on the college football field.
"I've actually never played guard before but the coaches wanted me to try it out," James told Greg Biggins of Scout.com. "I felt pretty comfortable there and I think it's a position I could play in college if they wanted me too. Everyone is recruiting me for tackle right now and that's where I'm most comfortable."
