Senior Associate AD Don Winston Retiring After Legendary Career

One of the brightest fundraisers USC has ever had will finally be taking some much-needed time off from work.

USC Athletics

Plenty of fine men and women have shaped USC Athletics lasting legacy as a sporting, cultural and academically challenging power, but one of the finest fundraisers around may have made one of his last campaign pitches.

Following an outstanding 31-year service, Don Winston will formally step down from full-time duties in development. The man best known for bringing in the dough in his labor of love, Winston helped raise over half a billion dollars for the University of Southern California including massive yearly endowments for the athletic department.

The master of development has been instrumental in raising funds to build USC's Galen Center, John McKay Center, Loker Track Stadium, Uytengsu Aquatics Center and Merle Norman Sand Volleyball Stadium. Since he joined the department in 1983, the annual fundraising total has grown from $2 million per year to $35 million.

The most recent Legend of Troy award winner, and frequent FundRaiser of the Year will certainly be remembered for his fantastic fundraising efforts for the University of Southern California, a place he called home both in executive order and in the Trojan classroom with his masters degree in liberal arts. Thank you Mr. Winston, Well Done!
