Prepare for battle over the highly-prized Jeweled Shillelagh. The USC Trojans and Notre Dame Fighting Irish are set for the 86th rendition of one of the best intersectional rivalries in college football. Saturday's season finale will be USC's 1,200th football game. The Trojans have lost just three times in their last 12 meetings with the Irish, but those losses all came in the past four seasons, including the last two meetings here in the Coliseum.
In the 40th anniversary of USC's great comeback over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, led by quarterback Pat Haden, the Trojans will look to break a rare losing streak against their rival. For just the 12th time in rivalry history, neither USC nor Notre Dame are nationally ranked heading into the game. After starting the year 6-0 and within just a few yards of upsetting Florida State, the Irish have lost their grip on the season.
Check out some of the best moments in USC vs. Notre Dame history as the Trojans honor the Senior Class this afternoon here on Senior Day at the Coliseum. From Matt Leinart, Pat Haden, Carson Palmer to linebacker Jeff Fisher and even Charles White, plenty of historically great Trojans have played their best in this monumental rivalry game.
