USC Drops Right Out of College Football Playoff Rankings; No Changes in Top 4

Oregon remains No. 2 in the potential playoff while USC slips right on out of the top 25.

After a bad loss in Pasadena, the USC Trojans fell right back out of the rankings after one measly ranked week. The Trojans are definitely movers with the CFB selection committee. They went from unranked to No. 19 to unranked in a three week span. Instead of USC, Utah, who just got blown out even worse than the Trojans this weekend are still sitting at No. 25, giving the Pac-12 five teams in the fifth iteration of the College Football Playoff top 25.

Oregon leads the way once again. The Ducks stayed are still sitting at No. 2 after a thumping of Colorado. The Ducks are still behind Alabama and in front of Florida State and Mississippi State as the top four teams -- the only ones that really matter -- did not change this week. TCU, Ohio State and Baylor also stayed put in the rankings behind the top four.

Oregon only has the Civil War against the lowly Beavers before taking on the still undecided Pac-12 South champion in Levi Stadium. Win out and the Ducks will be either the No. 1 or No. 2 seed in the first College Football Playoff.

Arizona State kept its hopes alive with a come-from-behind victory over Washington State, which didn't impress the selection committee as the Sun Devils stayed at No. 13. They need some help from Stanford against UCLA to make the Pac-12 Championship and have any shot at making the playoff.

UCLA's rivalry win earned them a one spot increase to No. 8 thanks to the Ole Miss flop at Arkansas. Arizona's drubbing of Utah got big kudos from the CFP selection committee, who boosted them from No. 15 to No. 11.
