Pretty uneventful 15 minutes in Los Angeles.
Quarterback Cody Kessler was given a nice smattering of bubble screens to call, completing 5-of-6 passes for just 24 yards. Running back Tre Madden ran had 15 yards rushing on 3 touches. Marqise Lee recorded 3 catches for only 9 yards.
Max Wittek was shown warming up after Kessler's last drive, so he may get some burn earlier than expected in the first half.
The defense looked OK, laying solid hits on Cougars QB Connor Halliday, who was 10-for-14 passing for 89 yards. The Trojan defense made a stand in the red zone, as cornerback Torin Harris picked off Halliday in the end zone, preserving the shutout early. Neither Morgan Breslin nor Devon Kennard have recorded a sack yet early on.
But there's still 45 minutes left to play. It will be interesting to see if head coach Lane Kiffin pulls Kessler early in hopes of sending out Wittek and his cannon of an arm.
