While incoming freshmen are adjusting to life on the campus for the very first time, giving a go-around with acclimating to life on the campus and the football squad, some fresh new faces have made their main stake in USC practices.
Three young guns are working out this week with the team, along with the recently-named four scholarship walk-on players who acquired full rides following their hard work and contribution over the course of their careers.
(35) ADRIAN JOHNSON-Safety Portland, OR (Sunset)
Measurable: 6-1, 190, Fr.*/So.,
2013: Johnson is a reserve walk-on safety as a redshirt freshman in 2013. He did not play football at USC in 2012.
HIGH SCHOOL: He made the 2011 Class 6A All-Metro League third team as a senior linebacker, tight end and running back at Sunset High in Portland (Ore.).
(64) DANE STEVENS-Offensive Guard-Center
Measurable: 6-3, 320, Fr./Fr., Marietta, GA (Mt. Paran Christian School)
2013: Stevens is a reserve walk-on offensive guard and center as a first-year freshman in 2013.
HIGH SCHOOL: He made the 2012 Max Prep Georgia All-A Region 6B second team as a senior offensive lineman at Mt. Paran Christian School in Kennesaw (Ga.) despite missing part of the year with a left ankle injury.
(79) MARCO SCAVUZZO-Offensive Tackle
Measurable: 6-7, 255, Fr./Fr., San Diego (La Jolla Country Day)
2013: Scavuzzo is a reserve walk-on offensive tackle as a first-year freshman in 2013.
HIGH SCHOOL: As a 2012 senior two-way lineman at La Jolla (Calif.) Country Day School, he had 35 tackles (with 5 for losses) and a deflection. As a 2011 junior, he had 45 tackles (with 5 for losses) and a fumble recovery.
He also was on the basketball and track teams at La Jolla Country Day. He made the Area All-Academic team in all 3 sports. Current Trojan Nick Schlossberg also prepped at La Jolla Country Day.
