This was a real barn burner going 5OT.
Here is the write up from the DN.
USC's Anni Espar delivered the winning goal for the Trojans after 45 minutes, 47 seconds of water polo to beat Stanford 10-9 in the third sudden-death period, winning the NCAA championship Sunday for the top-seeded Women of Troy in Boston.
The match was not only the first NCAA women's water polo final to go to overtime, it went through the two 3-minute overtime periods and two 3-minute sudden-death periods before Espar's shot gave USC a stunning and exhausting victory and its fourth national championship.
"This game was really tough," Espar told NCAA.com.
"I missed a lot of shots too. (USC coach Jovan Vavic) said it was my time and I trust him, so it was my time. I didn't want it only for me, but for all my team."
USC goalie Flora Bolonyai earned NCAA tournament MVP honors, making 17 saves in the final. She was joined on the first team by Espar and Kaleigh Gilchrist.
Congrats ladies!!
