USC Retains Recruiting Ace Tee Martin

usctrojans.com

It all begins with Tee Martin. The Trojans highly coveted wide receivers coach and Southern California recruiter, announced on Twitter he will be returning next season in the same capacity. Martin will also be joined by two of the highest-ranking members of the Washington Huskies staff that are joining Steve Sarkisian's growing staff.

Johnny Nansen comes to Southern California as a multi-faceted assistant coach under Steve Sarkisian. Nansen was an original hire of Sarkisian before the 2009 season and was a jack of all trades originally hired to coach the Huskies' defensive line and special teams, before serving his most recent role of assistant head coach, running backs coach and recruiting coordinator.

Under Nansen, Washington running back Bishop Sankey has amassed 3,214 yards in the last two years in part of the Huskies high-tempo offense in Seattle. Nansen will be working with sophomore-to-be running backs Ty Issac and Justin Davis, who will be returning from injury, along with redshirt sophomores Buck Allen and Tre Madden and redshirt junior D.J. Morgan, who did not play this season due to injury, in the Trojans talented backfield.

Keith Heyward will follow suit, and in the process, fill a role USC did not have this past season as the full-time defensive backs coach. The Huskies have had one of the best pass defenses in the country under Heyward and defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox in recent memory, even ranking second in the Pac-12 in pass defense in 2012.

Current running backs coach Tommie Robinson and defensive line coach Pete Jenkins will most likely be out of jobs under coach Sarkisian. It was announced, not to much surprise, that Jenkins has also left the team at this time, leaving the Trojans without a defensive line coach for the upcoming Bowl Game.
