USC beats UCLA in OT

Says lot more about them than it does about us...

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Spor

I am surprised, but not that surprised.

I will admit that I expected a loss. I will also admit that I am not really paying attention to hoops. But last nights win has brought out of my winter sleep for a little commentary.

Sometimes when teams have nothing overt to play for you find a way to dig down deep to pull one out.

It isn't like USC played their greatest game. They had double-digit turnovers, which is their signature, and players deep in foul trouble late in the game.

Still USC found a way to hang on.

The Trojans, who led by 15 points with just over 13 minutes remaining, led 65-63 with less than a minute remaining when Jio Fontan missed a long 3-pointer. Stewart got the rebound and, instead of settling down the ball with a fresh shot clock, rushed a putback attempt from close range and missed.

UCLA's Jordan Adams hit a short jumper at the other end to tie the game, but the Trojans stayed with Stewart and celebrated their first victory at the Bruins' newly renovated arena. The Trojans also broke a four-game losing streak to the Bruins.

As was said in the comments of the game thread...Bob Cantu's signature wins will leave you with a stroke!

They are in full meltdown across town...and my personal FB page is interestingly quiet this morning, devoid of any bRuins talking trash.

I will post up any postgame video if it pops up later.

Congrats gents, you earned it!
