USC dispatches Utah.
USC women's volleyball freshman outside hitter Samantha Bricio was unconscionable as she served up seven service aces to help lead the Women of Troy (18-3, 6-3 Pac-12) to a 3-0 sweep (25-14, 25-14, 25-22) over Utah (11-12, 2-8) on Friday, Oct. 19, at the Galen Center.
Between sets two and three, the Trojans welcomed alumni to the floor and honored longtime athletic trainer Sue Lerner as part of Alumni Night. Lerner recently retired after 34 years of service at USC.
Bricio scored 13.0 points as she knocked down six kills (2e, 15att, .267) to go with her career-best seven aces. It was the most aces for a Trojan player since All-American outside Asia Kaczor had eight in a three-set match at Oregon State, on Nov. 9, 2007. Junior outside hitter Sara Shaw led all players with 10 kills (4e, 24att, .250) and had USC's two other service aces for 12.0 points.
Up next is Colorado on Sunday.
