OFFICIAL: Ted Gilmore hired as USC's Wide Receiver Coach

This certainly isn't a great secret but it is nice to see and official announcement...

From the official site:

Ted Gilmore, most recently the wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator at Nebraska, has been named an assistant coach in charge of wide receivers at USC, Trojan head football coach Lane Kiffin announced today (Feb. 24).

"I'm thrilled to welcome Ted Gilmore to the Trojan football family," said Kiffin. "For years, he has been regarded as an outstanding recruiter and wide receivers coach. He comes to us highly recommended by a number of very prominent coaches. I'm excited for him to start working with our talented group of receivers."

Gilmore, 43, spent the past 6 years (2005-10) at Nebraska coaching the wide receivers. He also was the Cornhuskers' recruiting coordinator the past 4years (2007-10) and added the title of assistant head coach-offense in 2008.

Reading the message boards from both programs I have seen mixed reviews.

That is not scientific...or accurate.

But I will go with this...Lane Kiffin tried to hire Gilmore when Kiffin was coaching the Raiders so it is pretty clear that he has some familiarity with and respect for Gilmore's work. And based what I read on what Gilmore did at Nebraska he is significant upgrade over John Morton. Gilmore will be a better teacher at the techniques our WR's have been lacking.

Welcome Ted!

FIGHT ON!
