As a USC-centric blog, I can't say many of us are shocked. Per Mike Sando of ESPN.com:
The Seattle Seahawks have fired offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates after one season.
The team is giving strong consideration to hiring former Denver Broncos coach Josh McDaniels for the vacancy, a source with knowledge of the situation told ESPN Senior NFL Analyst Chris Mortensen.
The news of Bates' firing, first reported by the NFL Network, comes two days after the Seahawks' 35-24 defeat to the Chicago Bears in the NFC playoffs.
The Seahawks were ranked 28th in total offense this season, although quarterback Matt Hasselbeck played his best during the playoffs.
Now, let the Bates jokes ensue...
