Those were the words of mark Tyler on the sidelines as USC's game against Hawaii was coming to the end...
H/T: TrojanWire
Many 'SC fans were ecstatic with the performance that Marc Tyler put on against Hawaii last week. We talked about Tyler's struggles during his time at USC as well and how much he has over come to earn the starting running back job.
Tyler was so jittery before the game that Stanley Havili needed to calm Tyler down...
Four-year starting fullback Stanley Havili gave Tyler some reassuring advice before the 2010 opener at Hawaii. Havili reminded Tyler that he had been doing this his whole life. Pop Warner, high school, practice – Thursday night would be no different.
Tyler found inner peace and displayed outward strength. He picked and plowed his way to a career-high 154 yards on 17 carries in the Trojans' 49-36 victory in front of an announced crowd of 44,204 at Aloha Stadium.
"I've been waiting three years for this," a grinning Tyler said. "I didn't think I could still do it. But losing that weight and getting healthy, I got it back."
I think its great that Tyler has overcome so much to earn the starting job.
There is no question that he played extremely well in his first start but as I have always said...earning the starting job is not the hard part. Keeping it is the hard part and you have to continue to strive to do your best.
Tyler's 44-yard TD run was a thing of beauty and it showed us all we wanted to see of and knew Tyler was capable of when he first came to USC. If Tyler stays healthy this could be a very special season for him based on what we saw last Thursday.
Here are Tyler's thoughts on his performance from ESPN-LA.
FIGHT ON! MARC!
