Good morning, all!
You locals are probably getting ready to head over to the Coliseum right now (probably already left) for the Trojan Huddle USC spring football game/scrimmage.
Well for those who aren't, USC just got a verbal commitment from highly touted defensive tackle/end Jalen Grimble.
Yes, Grimble does sound familiar because he's cousins with our very own, Xavier Grimble, and yes, both did attend the same school at Bishop Gorman, Las Vegas, Nev. The 6-4 255 beast had an eye-opening performance at last year's Rising Stars Camp at USC, and he had just finished his sophomore year.
The question now is if this commitment affects the decision by another special defensive end, Greg Townsend Jr. I believe Townsend has more upside and better technique than Grimble, but both haven't played their senior years.
This per Wearesc.com regarding his commitment to USC:
I’m a real loyal kid," Grimble said, noting that he also looks forward to helping recruit for USC. "I’ll help my school as much as I can. I want us to be the best.
Grimble is currently the No. 5 defensive end in the nation per Scout.com
Eric McKinney of Wearesc.com broke the news, props to him.
