Mayo Dodged a Bullet

Things could have been real bad for SC as Oj mayo was facing a six game suspension for accepting tickets fro Carmelo Anthony.

From Ben Bolch at The LAT:

USC Coach Tim Floyd's admission of complicity in the accepting of free Lakers tickets by O.J. Mayo appears to have spared the freshman guard a suspension of at least six games, according to information released today by the NCAA.

Floyd acknowledged clearing Mayo to receive free tickets to a Lakers game from Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony, which is a violation of NCAA rules. The NCAA considered Floyd's approval a mitigating factor in reinstating Mayo's eligibility and requiring him only to pay the $460 face value of the tickets to charity.

That would have been real bad.

I love Coach Floyd's feistiness in how he handled the press..."I didn't feel like it was any of your business where he got the ticket. And I don't feel like it's my job to tell you everything that's going on within our program. I'll tell you what I want you to hear."

Gotta Love it!!
