USC defensive tackle Chris Barrett is academically ineligible after failing to pass enough classes this semester, which effectively ends his college career.
I realize that we take our fair amount of crap about academics and such but with stories like this can you blame our rivals for taking pot shots at us. I mean it can't be that tough to pass six units, right?
Barrett did not meet an NCAA rule which requires an athlete to pass a minimum of six units per semester.
"He is the only casualty of the thing," USC coach Pete Carroll said. "He did not make it."
Barrett started most of last season at defensive tackle but lost his job to senior Fili Moala at the end of spring practice.
Also, former Arkansas quarterback Mitch Mustain officially enrolled Monday in summer school.
