This is a big win for SC as they get ready to head up to Berkley for three game set with the Golden Bears.
Freshman catcher Robert Stock (Westlake Village/Agoura HS) went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI Wednesday as the USC Trojans beat the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos, 7-5, in a nonconference game at Dedeaux Field. The Trojans (26-23), who possess the toughest schedule in the nation according to Boyd's World, have now won five of their last six games.
Senior closer Paul Koss (Orange/Orange Lutheran HS) notched his nation-leading 16th save of the season for USC while starter Anthony Vasquez (3-6) threw six innings, allowing three runs on seven hits.
So, SC is starting to put some things together. If they can win the series with the Bears it will help them in their quest for the post season. Having the toughest schedule in the country will count for something if they can finish the season strong.
