TUCSON, Ariz. - Sophomore left-hander Tommy Milone (Saugus/Saugus HS) turned in his best collegiate start as a Trojan with seven scoreless innings and a career-high nine strikeouts Monday as USC earned the Pac-10 Conference series victory with a 4-2 win against the No. 14 Arizona Wildcats. The Trojans are now tied for fifth place with Oregon State and California at 8-10 in the conference with USC traveling to Berkeley next weekend for a series with the Golden Bears.

USC (25-23) handed Arizona (36-13, 11-7) its first series loss at home this season as the Wildcats are now 25-4 at home. Today's win also helps USC with its postseason chances as the Trojans possess the toughest schedule in the nation according to the latest rankings by Boyd's World.com.

If SC finishes strong there is no reason why they can't make it to the post season. From Wolf's Blog.

The USC baseball team is 24-23 as they play Arizona this afternoon but the Trojans have the No. 1-ranked schedule in the nation according to Boyd's World.com and a surprising RPI of 46, so an NCAA bid is a possibility if they finish strong.

Getting to the post season would be a great accomplishment after this difficult first season for Coach Kreuter.

SC's next opponent will be UC Santa Barbara on Wednesday.
