Beavers beat the No. 25 USC Trojans, 9-8, in a Pac-10 Conference game to win the series, two games to one. The Beavers rallied from a two-run deficit in the eighth with two outs when Mike Lissman tied the game with a two-run homer off the foul pole in left.

Oregon State is now 25-7 on the season while USC is 19-14 overall with both teams now 2-4 in the Pac-10 Conference.

Lennerton hit his second home run of the season off USC closer Paul Koss (2-2), hitting an opposite field shot to left. Eddie Kunz (2-0) had his longest stint in his career with 5 1/3 innings of relief, allowing only one run on two hits with a walk and five strikeouts.

Freshman right-hander Hector Rabago had pitched well in 3 2/3 innings before giving up the two-run homer to Lissman. Freshman Kevin Couture threw 1 1/3 no-hit innings with three strikeouts.

Mitch Canham went 2-for-6 with three RBI for the Beavers while Hector Estrella went 2-for-3 with five RBI for the Trojans.

This will probably knock SC from the top 25 as Coach Kruetter struggles to find the winning combination. The lone bright spot was Hector Estrella's 5 RBI.
