Oregon St. took out their frustrations from being swept by Arizona last weekend by beating SC 9-5 in Corvallis last night.
From the SC website:
CORVALLIS, Ore. - Chris Hopkins went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI Thursday as the No. 9 Oregon State Beavers opened a Pac-10 Conference series with a 9-5 victory over the No. 25 USC Trojans at Goss Stadium/Coleman Field. Hopkins hit an RBI single to start a three-run third inning to key the victory.
Mike Stutes (7-1) earned the win for Oregon State (24-6, 1-3) with 6 2/3 innings. He allowed two runs on five hits and struck out six Trojans. John Wallace and Darwin Barney had two RBI each for the Beavers. Oregon State has won 12 straight home games, dating back to the 2006 season.
OSU had a 5-0 lead after the fourth inning after Hopkins hit a two-run double off Cook, who gave up five runs on five hits.
If SC wants to stay in the Top 25 they are are going to have to have a better showing against the Defending champs.
