Trojans drop 2 in series versus Long Beach State

USC's baseball team played a three game series with Long Beach State, dropping the series with two losses.

The Trojans took a 2 - 1 win at Dedeaux Field on Friday, on the strength of a pinch hit RBI from Robert Gemoll.

However, Saturday's game at Long Beach saw the 49ers take a 4 - 2 lead in the bottom of the second, and hold it to a 5 - 3 win.

The return game at Dedeaux Field on Sunday was even less kind to the Trojans, with the 49ers taking and holding onto a lead the whole game. Long Beach State was up 2 - 1 at the beginning of the 7th inning, and a three run effort wrapped up the game shortly thereafter. The Trojans were not able to convert batting to runs, including a phase in the third inning when they had the bases loaded and 2 outs, and were unable to muster an RBI or indeed anything else.

The next game for the Trojans baseball team will be against Loyola Marymount on Tuesday February 7, starting at 2 p.m. PST.
