USC vs.
Miami (OH) - Game Preview
When: Friday, Nov. 23 @ 9:30 PM (PST)
Where: The Arena at the Anaheim Convention Center (Anaheim, CA)
Watch: ESPN2
It was a ugly game tonight, but all that matters is that we came out with the victory. Next on the tournament schedule is Miami (OH), a team that went to the NCAA Tournament last season and nearly pulled off a giant upset in the 1st round against Oregon. Three starters return for the RedHawks in Senior forward Tim Pollitz (6-6, 230), Junior guard/forward Michael Bramos (6-5, 218), and Sophomore guard Alex Moosmann (6-0, 174). Pollitz leads the bunch averaging 21 pts, 7 reb, and 5 assists per game. Another player worth mentioning is Junior guard Kenny Hayes, who is a JC transfer and is already the team's second leading scorer.
The RedHawks play a very disciplined and defensive oriented style of game, much like another team in the Anaheim Classic, the Salukis of Southern Illinois. SC clearly has the athletic edge in this battle, but the RedHawks do the little things right and play sound fundamental basketball, which could prove to be troublesome against our young and inexperienced squad. In the end, I have faith in Coach Floyd and think SC's depth and talent will prove to be too much, but this is definitely a game SC can lose if they don't stay disciplined. Expect a close one.
