SC Downed by the Cougars

WSU's Kyle weaver put up a last second layup for a 58-55 victory. This is to be expected with a young team. Win a big one lose the next one; sometimes that is how progress is made. So it's going to take some time for these guys to come together.

Nick Young led all SC scoring with 14 points with Taj Gibson and Dwight Lewis chipping in 11 points each. A win today could have put us in the Top 25 but it was not to be.

From the LA Times:

Kyle Weaver's layup with four seconds remaining lifted Washington State to a 58-55 victory over Southern California on Saturday, snapping the Trojans' nine-game home winning streak.

Derrick Low scored 13 points to lead the Cougars (12-2, 1-1 Pac-10), who salvaged their conference-opening road trip after nearly knocking off No. 1 UCLA 55-52 Thursday night.

Nick Young led the Trojans (11-3, 1-1) with 14 points. Taj Gibson and Dwight Lewis added 11 each. USC was coming off consecutive victories over No. 14 Washington on Thursday and then-No. 8 Wichita State last week.

We'll get there in time, I have no delusions that it will happen overnight but it looks like things are coming together a little bit.

Next week we play Oregon and Oregon State away.
