After spending the most pivitol nine years of my life in Colorado I find my self wandering the earth in search of the community and feeling that was Colorado. Boy sometimes you just miss the mountains. The best memory I have as a Bronco Fan was October 29, 2006. With the Colts in town, A friend of mine got me 50yrd line tickets as a birthday present. During a TV Time out, Darrent Williams comes over and I ask him for his autograph and we start talking. As soon as he finds out it is my birthday I get pictures, autographs and hand shakes from almost every guy on the team. The memento I will never part with is the hat that was DWill's sideline hat that the whole team autographed for me that day. Even though we lost the Broncos secured their place as my team forever that day. Darrent you will be missed by so many!

MHR Scouting Services- Staff

Mhr_scouting_services_medium

Here it is the MHR Scouting Services Staff List. The People listed below are the ones who will providing you with knowledge about the up and coming college football prospects that are standouts for your Denver Broncos. They will also report on the occasional GREAT player but the majority of the reports will be about those players our Scouting Staff feel would do well donning the Orange and Blue come September 2009. The link in the left hand navigation bar titled MHR Scouting Services will serve as a link to the reports by MHR Scouting. Now to introduce our Senior Staff at MHR Scouting:

THE SPORTS GURU "TSG"- The founder of the MHR, Guru has given our scouting staff the opportunity to help you the average reader learn a little about what goes on in the scouting world as well as a little about what it takes for a player to wear the coveted Orange and Blue. He is the Man behind all the men and women who supply our scouting information. Our greatest thanks to the GURU who without we would not have our beloved MHR.

STYG50- Styg has agreed to help all those who are new to the scouting world by giving them a inside look at what sits on a scouts coffee room table. He will be the one providing the articles on what it takes to scout. After reading the analysis of players Styg provided during this reloading season, there was no doubt in MHRSS (not to be confused with HRMS) that to not have this man on board would be a travesty.

HOOSIERTEACHER "HT"- The heart and soul of MHR University has agreed to help out in the area of "Becoming a Denver Bronco" and what it entails. Having worked with the great HT at the MHR University (I taught Saturday School to raider fans and equipped the MHR University Students with their Extra Credit Options), I can say that there are very few people who provide the in depth knowledge he has and to have him on the MHR Scouting Services payroll is indeed fortunate for us.

Now that you know the Top Staff here at MHR Scouting go below the fold to read our ACE Beat Reporters who will be giving you the analysis first hand!

Terrell Davis- What he could have been/ What he was

I thoought I would get a little history and speculation here. Terrell Davis is my Favorite Player all time so you may have to excuse a bit of What if here! His Premature ending fo his career casue some speculation.  I loved watching Georgia games just because of him! I was more apt to blame Griese than Lepsis because the whole team had to try and make up for homeboys failure to complete a pass. I was thinking about TD and what could have been the other day.

8 years
78 games
7607 yards
1655 carries
4.6 average

now the average career for a  back in tthe NFL who is a "Franchise Back" is about 10 years. TD had one year where he was on teh roster but didnt play AT ALL. So lets give him 7 credible years. 78 games in 7 years is roughly 11 gaems a year. his total yards divided by games averages to 97.6 yards per game so add 3 more years of 11 games and TD ends up with another 3221 yards. But since TD was a "Franchise" back he would have played roughly 13-14 games a year. so that would change the number to 4100 yards to add to his 7607 11,707 yards for his career based on these numbers is a DAMN good back. Also TD only averaged 22 carries per game (for those big 30-40 carry guys to note) which adding 42 more games to his plate would bring total carries to 1697 for his career. which puts his average at  6.9 yards per carry. Not bad stats, Hall of Fame worthy if he had lasted 10 years! Again this is all theory and no one knows how it would have worked out.

So thats what he could have been and a littel of what he was. One thing I willpoint out to you, Terrell Davis was not a 30 carry back. He had occasional games where he would get the rock 25 -30-35 times but his career average is 22 carries. this may be skewed by the earlier and later years of his career but in the end he was the primary back and still split carries with Vaugh Hebron and others. I think even with TD we were a running back by commitee team just not as big of a reliance on the committee as much as reliance on TD and Elway. Anyway thought I would put this up there to debate a little bit.

Who Should get the Nod?

We now have a question before the MHR community, Who should Start at each position? With the 500 or so running backs and 350 receivers we have brought in, how do we cut it down to the guy that will be solid contributors? Good thing that this is Mike Shannahan's job and not mine, I figured I would go down the list and give you the break down of the 55 I think should be playing for this team. You can debate me in the comment section all day (that's what MHR is known for besides quality contribution) I just want to get the guy I think should make the roster up there for you all to see.

QB

Jay Cutler

Patrick Ramsey

Cullen Finnerty

The first two are no brainers at this point. I see Finnerty edging out Hackney based on our Character model that coach is trying to build around the team.

RB

Travis Henry

Michael Pittman

Selvin Young

Ryan Torain

Change out whoever you want, These guys are leaving camp in my opinion. I have been a fan of Mike Bell for a while, but the writing is on the wall for the kid as a running back.

FB

Cecil Sapp

Peyton Hillis

Denver admitted to wanting a true fullback by drafting one. I think Sapp starts out but he will be the back up by the end of the season. Hillis runs like Griffith to me he sees the hole and runs to beat the RB there and block away.

TE

Daniel Graham

Tony Sceffler

Nate Jackson

I think Jackson gets the nod over Mustard based on the fact that if we run any 3-TE sets this year the third TE will be focused on more catching than blocking.

WR

Brandon Marshall

Brandon Stokely

Eddie Royal

Keary Colbert

Darrell Jackson

Sammie Parker

Here the competition is stiff and close. I think these guys make it out based on things said by Coach. Don't rule out one of these guys leaving too but these are the 6 i think stay

OL

Ryan Clady

Tyler Polumbus

Erik Pears

Ryan Harris

Ben Hamilton

Chris Kuper

Montrae Holland

Dylan Gandy

Tom Nalen

Kory Lichtensteiger

Casey Wiegmann

This is a difficult list because I limited myself to 11 for the O Line. I think however these guys make our roster and are the productive members of the team on the line.

DE

Elvis Dumervil

Jaravis Moss

Tim Crowder

Ebeneezer Ekuban/ John Engleberger

Here I have my first set of guys who you could trade out. Eeks and Engleberger are inter-changeable to me because they provide the same thing, mainly experience opposite Dumervil.

DT

Marcus Thomas

Dewayne Robertson

Carlton Powell

Alvin McKinnley

I actually like our middle and what it looks like it could end up being. Thomas as the main guy with the other three rotating around him to provide the threat.

LB

D.J. Williams

Boss Bailey

Niko Koutouvides

Spencer Larsen

Wesley Woodyard

Nate Webster

Jamie Winbourn

You could argue we just gave Louis Green a contract extension, but I just don't see him beating out these guys.

CB

Champ Bailey

Dre Bly

Domonique Foxworth

Karl Paymah

Jack Williams

I think these are the guys I am most comfortable with to be honest.

Safety

John Lynch

Marquand Manuel

Marlon McCree

Josh Barrett

Hamza Abdullah

OK so I am a little off on these guys because if it came down to it I don't know which one I would cut. The rest of the class can go.

K/P

This one just seems off to me. I think Prater and Paulescue still come away with the jobs but this could be where I completely miff the picks.

TOTAL Roster Count: 56

Alright guys and gals rip it apart and tell me what you think!

Poll
How Close is this to actually being the top 56 guys on the list
  • Hands down top 56 on the team
  • Close change a few names
  • I would take a few but my list is different
  • Jay Cutler was all you got right

MHR University Extra Credit Option- What about the "IF's"

The Extra Credit Options are in...

So I am not a huge fan of the "IF" game but I got to thinking about the "if's" yesterday and I came up with a question to pose not only to myself but you guys. "Did Mike address the 'if's' that surround our team this reloading season?" I guess to answer that question you have to go back to last season and find our break downs. This is nothing more than a simple question with a complex answer. Read More if you want to follow my crazy logic.

THE BIG QUESTIONS:

  • "IF" Travis Henry is injured again are we relying on speed backs as our only backfield solution?
  • Are we capable of suiting up ANY type of Defense "IF" our new coordinator doesn't work out?
  • "IF" our number one wide receiver is injured, are we capable of a good passing game regardless
  • How deep are we "IF" injuries happen?
  • We can get the ball longer and in better position "IF" the ST unit has a good return.

These questions are the first that come to mind but are just a few of the many "IF's" we have. Like I said, I do not like to play the "IF's" but there are people who do and they are the ones in mind when writing this.

Poll
Did we address our "IF" questions during the reloading season
  • Yes
  • No
  • Not only did we fix 'em can you say SUPERSTARS everywhere
  • Bowlen needs to fire everyone from Shanny to the towel boy and start over!

MHR Scouting - PAC 10 History

Mhr_scouting_services_medium

To start off, we are going to introduce the different conferences to those who have never watched or participated in College football. We will start with the history of each conference and then move to the rivalries of each team in the conference and finally the final "primer" piece of each will be the styles of play for each team in the conference. It is a lot to digest so we will break it up into different pieces for each without further ado...
