Puke
Floyd ejected.  Can't penetrate the zone, can't stop them with man to man.  Horrible shooting.  You name it, if it was negative, we did it.

OJ Holding Coach Floyd Back During Ejection
I'm not the greatest lip reader, but I think OJ was warning Coach Floyd: "Be careful. If you get too close to the refs, one of them might take a dive."

On a positive note
In an ironic twist, O.J. Mayo escorted Tim Floyd off the court at WSU after he was ejected.  For those who doubted this kid ability to act like a mature adult I would say he is keeping his cool better than Coach Floyd has.  OJ has played, and represented USC  well all season long.

I've taken my jabs at Mayo during the season
..but I have to admit that he has been very mature and composed on the court.  Perhaps being a 20 year-old freshman helps, but nonetheless, I've been impressed.

I have strep throat!
I've been out of it since Wed night. One of these girls I've been seeing (friggin Pepperdine chick! By way of ASU) had strep last week or two weeks ago- whatever, was on anti-biotics for 6 days (supposed to be 10, she said she ran out) and said "we were good to to" ????

So, the long of the short of it: I got strep. . .and I got it good. Serves me right. All night long on Wed. night I was clownin Bruin fans at a few bars here on Abbot Kinney. I was having fun.

Wake up Thurs. morning. Goodness gracious, mercy me! I'm hatin' it!

Crazy game yesterday. I saw it this morning at 4 AM. Mayo has some moves. That Loh-kid (sp?) not only has a retardedly fast first step, he has a nice touch on his spot-up J. Anyhow, WSU had a few plays where they just out-sped, out-faked, and out-jacked our athletic bballers.

Floyd had every right to go postal. Mayo couldn't catch a break the 1st or 2nd half. This was a game that we couldn't collapse the other team's D. Make them fuck-up off rotations in transition or catch them asleep/flat-footed. WSU played a great defensive game. They planned on winning the game that way. And for their Coach, they executed it beautifully. We took bad shots when we shouldn't have, and couldn't make the shots that we were used to - the three eluded us for long periods of time. Not too many high-percentage field goals. I haven't read the stat lines, my guess is . . . . . we're (Coach Floyd and the team) pretty pissed off right now.

Frankly im not surprised
how a school that employs a bunch of thugs, can't even keep their own coach cool during a game. If your own players are telling you to chill out, then either you don't care about showing a good example to the players, and you don't care about looking like a fool on national televsion. This is incredibly poor sportsmanlike conduct, and frankly im not surprised. Aside from Bush taking money, USC officials knowing what was going on, Mayo taking "free" tickets "unknowlingly" to nuggets games. This is exactly the kind of things I would expect to see happen at one of USC's games. And in regards to the person who said that Oj mayo was surprisingly acting mature? What else was he going to do, he knew it wasn't that big of a deal, and he wasn't about to back a brother up on the court and pick a fight. That should have been common sense number one for Timmeh

by justSUC on Feb 10, 2008 2:16 PM PST reply actions

Dude, you "unknowlingly" got bad info
Because:
  1. there's really few "good sportsmanlike penalty", given in a game, let alone a poor one. Like idiocy much? Because you sure are.
  2. let us know when either a school or their lugs CAN keep a coach cool during a game. Get back to us on that fool. Are you naturally stupid or do you practice it in you down time.
  3. brandishing common sense comments has veracity only to those that have it. you came on to a Trojan friendly site doofus. AND YOU AIN'T GOT IT. so. . .there goes your BS.
  4. obviously you have NEVER played a competitive game in your life, at least not very well. because anyone and their mother knows that in the heat of competing in a game (whoopee! guess what? it's only a game), the athletes and their coaches operate on the thin line passion and frustration. It's "common sense" the coach lost his cool. OJ was being hacked to pieces. He was defending his player as well as his right to get the refs to do something about WSU's obvious fouling. So Coach gets tossed? What's it to you? Lemme know when you can come up with an equation that PERMANENTLY limits the ability for either athlete or coach to NOT get a technical and/or get tossed from a game. It happens. For people like you who feel it shouldn't, go back to WATCHING. But really, you should start playing. Then . . .we wouldn't be having this discussion. Idiot.

What thugs are you talking about?
Anyone on the basketball team with a record?

by frak on Feb 10, 2008 2:32 PM PST reply actions

Definition of "thug"
1.    a cruel or vicious ruffian, robber, or murderer.

Care to apply this to anyone at USC.  It applies to OJ Simpson I know, but to my knowledge I don't know of any other vicious ruffians, robbers, or murderers that are in the employ of USC.

where should i begin?
Well for starters we can go to this story,
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2423430
I don't care if there's proof or not why can't these kids knock this kind of crap off.

And we shall go to the kicker. You want to know what thugs I am talking about? And how they manage to never reap what they sow?

I hope he stays
Its always fun to see the "thug" moniker fly out.  I wonder how his logic applies to Rick Neuheisel.  It would seem that in order to be consistent he would have to be a vocal critic of the hiring of Rick Neuheisel considering the record of his former players at the school where he last coached.

ucla has dirty laundry the same as any other school

Some of the criminal offenses committed by bruins include:

assault, dui, murder, conspiracy to commit murder, perjury, treason, and fraud.

Oh wait. . .mhhhhh! mhhhh! smells like. . .mhhhh! smells like he's Dorkis McLanahan from San DeLamo (dee-lame-oh). Can you get this guy? With his justSUC moniker? What's he thinking? He's daft punk. And I don't know if I told you guys, but. . . .lately. . . . .I'm not really down with them guys.

Cue some head scratching...
I can just imagine the inner monologue:

"Stupid SCum! I'm going to get another screen name so I can tell those assholes what time it is! Okay, I've used 'JustSC' and "JustSuC,' what's next? Has to be something similar so I can remember it... Uhhh... JustSCum? JustSuuuuC? JustrOJies?"

I'm sure it will keep him / her busy for a while.

No disrespect to UCLA
UCLA students and alumni that have a balanced, realistic, non-bias take on the troubles USC has experienced during the lifetime of the university I welcome their thoughts.  For those that fit that description please consider my posts not directed at you.

Me too!
(btw: thanks frak, good idea. I hadn't considered writing anything like this. It is high time that I have. I hope you don't mind me following up after yours)

My harsh tone and perceived lack of respect to posters such as "justSUC" is. . . . I'll admit harsh and disrespectful. It in no way applies to any other posters whose affiliations differ from the Trojan perspective. I find it beyond comprehension anyone would come over to CC and overtly condemn without cause or criticize in vulgar and disrespectful ways my alma mater or it's employees, athletes, and students.

My harsh words are written only in the heat of the moment and not at all seriously my personal attack or indictment of the way I truly feel about the majority of people I know, students, and faculty over at UCLA. If I may afforded THAT much latitude in stretching this rationale and reason to that end, I would greatly appreciate it. Especially from the wonderful contributors on the CC site that I know of in:

ucladj89
superbruinman
ryebreadz (sp?)

thanks again frak for bringing this to light. if no one's ever said it before to you: you are a pretty good influence. especially on this dumb-dumb. me.

and as for
"obviously you have NEVER played a competitive game in your life, at least not very well. because anyone and their mother knows that in the heat of competing in a game (whoopee! guess what? it's only a game), the athletes and their coaches operate on the thin line passion and frustration. Sure thing buddy, i'll just throw this one under the rug with all of Bob Knight's fantastic "sportsmanlike" plays.
Timmy's a class act, just like others i've had fun reading about coming out of Southern Cal. I'm pretty sure O.J. (Simpson) was feeling really "frustrated" that someone was in his room with "his" valuables too. hence the need to carry a gun.

And in terms of debating. a simple disagreement would have worked without insult. So maybe you've been watching to many SC games.

I cant argue about Sanchez
I actually believe that he did commit a crime.  There have been on occasion players at USC that have been in trouble with the law.  Most recently Sanchez (sexual assault 2006), Pinkard(DUI 2006), and Mauluga (assault 2005).  There haven't been any problems over the last 12 months that I can remember.  The fact that you have to cite an article that is dated 22 months ago to make a point about USC not being able to "knock this kind of crap off" is a bit of a stretch.   I also like how you ignored the question put to you on how the word "thugs" applies to anyone on the basketball team yet you paint them with the same brush.

The truth is that USC does suffer from sporadic instances where its players break the law.  These problems occur at many other programs around the nation, including ucla.  As long as we are going back years in the past  you can look up Cory Paus, Justin Medlock, Ricky Manning, and Tyler Ebell if you think that current or former ucla players don't break the law.  Its nice to know that you don't care about "proof or not" because I'm sure that in your world a man like Hershel Dennis would be in jail doing 20 years for a crime that the alleged victim said never happened 12 months after the accusation.  Its a good thing Dennis had a lawyer to represent him or he might have ended up in jail for a crime he didn't commit.  Maybe the Duke lacross team belongs in jail because you don't care about "proof or not."  I myself happen to like living in America where proof does have to be exhibited to establish guilt or innocence.

Yes USC has problems, but painting the program, and a majority of the players as thugs for the actions of an extremely small minority over the course of the 7 years that Carroll has been the head coach is quite ridiculous.

Wow the irony
Heres an article in the daily bruin today about coach Rick Neuheisel and his record at Washington.

http://www.bruinmarketplace.com/news/2008/feb/05/emshould-we-sacrifice-class-successem

I especially like this quote.  Here it seems that the writer at the daily bruin seems to think that trouble is the product of success.

"It's a little sick that driving into the wall of a retirement home, allegedly raping or choking someone, or being arrested for multiple DUIs can all be essentially ignored as long as football games are being won.

But that seems to be the system at the major university football programs. To pretend it's unique to Neuheisel, or the University of Washington in 2000, is silly."
