The Super Bowl
My thoughts on who to root for:
I live in L.A., so there is no local connection to the Patriots or Giants. One might be tempted to root for the underdog in this case, but I personally am hoping for a complete beat down on the Giants and I'll tell you why. Everyone hates the Patriots because they are winners. They hate the Pats for the same reasons that they hate USC. The Patriots are constantly winning and people are sick of it. This makes them our brothers in arms in the NFL. I say that a "Go Patriots" is synonymous to a "Go Trojans". I hope Tom Brady takes that underdog out to the woods and shoots it with his shotgun.
Go Patriots!! Go Junior Seau!! Sorry Steve Smith (I hope you score all the points for the Giants)

I hate the Patriots
But . . . .hate is such a strong word. I dislike them very much. I dislike the Red Sox. I've always not cared for the Celtics. The only thing I've really cared for in Boston are my cousins who've lived there for 3 generations and Boston Baked Beans candies.
Sometimes, not wanting to see a team do well has nothing to do with how well they're doing. It's because they're your team's league rival. Or because you don't care for the way they compete. Or because you believe their coach and staff to cheat? There's a whole cornucopia of reasons. I just don't like the Patriots (and a whole lot of other teams) because I've never liked them.
For the record. I dislike the Giants too. Never have liked either team. Super Bowl? Go ahead and have it. Have fun. I'm tuned out and going to go and grapple for 3 hours. No traffic on the 405- might as well. I'll catch up with the revelers post-game. Hermosa Beach is the place to be around that time. just is.

Weather's nice right now
You rooting for New York Giants Paragon. If you are, good luck! Little Stevie Smith will always be one of my all-time favorite receivers. He's been so much and has done so much for our program. Class act through and through.
I wish all the Trojans well. Hope no one gets hurt. Have fun.
(lucky to have grown up around here Paragon. It's still probably as beautiful as when you were growing up. they've dolled up the entire strand both residentially and commercially from Manhattan Beach to Palos Verdes Estates. I'm from Los Gatos/Santa Cruz area in NorCal and if I had to pick, I would way prefer to grow up in this surfer community than that of Huntington Beach or San Clemente. Surfed them all and in between. Hermosa is tight. It's jumpin. So is Manhattan and Redondo. I surf mainly at El Porto/Duckweiler though- convenience mostly, and less crowded.

I know its beautiful...
I've been out here 20 years and for the most part I have never looked back.
Ambivalent about who wins tonight, not a fan of either team, I just want our guys to do well.

Enjoy that weather
Didn't care about the game but I cheered for the Giants because I don't like the Patriots under Belichik. Liked them when they were the underdog to the Rams, was ambivalent about them afterward, but this year didn't like the way they tried to embarrass their opponents.
Hermosa is a little scruffier than Manhattan and Redondo, but I liked living there. I lived in all the South Bay communities after law school at some point. I lived on Marine Street in Manhattan, on PV Drive in Redondo, and on some street I can't remember in Hermosa. Played most of my beach v-ball at 8th St. in Manhattan and in every tournament they had-Slimeball, War of the Roses, Surf-fest. What a great place to be young. I grew up in Huntington Beach but I wasn't a part of the surf community because it was mostly a bunch of Spicolis and academic non-starters. I stuck to volleyball although I did surf some. Surfing's not a great option here (believe it or not there really is surfing in the Great Lakes not far from Chicago) because I hate wearing a full wetsuit and even with that, man was not made to surf in 35 degree water when the ice forms in your eyebrows when your head comes out of the water.

Amen ucladj
El Porto was MASSIVE yesterday morning. Manhattan Pier was closed. Again. (something about the "quality" of the water????)
Icicles on your eyebrows. Are you sure they weren't "snowboarding Chicago-style"? Sounds frigid. (nothing that one's piss can't cure???)
I'm on a few shorties this season. A 5'6" Lance Collins old-school tri-fin I got on eBay last summer. Little f_cker flies! My G & S longboy is a TREE! All I need is a boom, sail, and jib and I can get to Hawaii in 10 days.
Stay warm dj. Stay classy.

Steve Smith
I dislike both teams. But unequally. Call it, "damning with faint praise" if you want- but I'm happy that the lesser of two evils has won.

Mercury Morris is dancing a jig
Go Dolphins in that respect. There will be no spygate asterisk in the books.
Great news for Steve Smith and Manny Wright. Smith was pretty much responsible for the games only interception, but he redeemed himself with some clutch receptions for 1st downs, and that important recovery of Eli Manning's fumble. I enjoyed watching that game. It was a prime example of the belief that defense wins championships.
