Daniel Hackett to Return!

Bumped and updated below. Paragon

Just heard on the radio that Daniel Hackett is returning to practice with the team today.  I didn't think he had a chance to return to the court this season, but he may just prove me wrong.

I hope Daniel isn't risking a more severe injury by returning too soon.  Maybe he is just going to evaluate how he feels.  Anyway, its an interesting development.

Update [2008-2-27 14:25:30 by Paragon SC]: As Frak noted in the comments Daniel Hackett was cleared to practice today.

From The LA Times

When Daniel Hackett returned after a six-week injury layoff in November, it was as if his game had been magically fortified.

The USC sophomore guard scored a career-high 21 points in a victory over the Citadel and then topped that with the first triple-double by a Trojans player in at least 30 years in a win over South Carolina two days later.

Hackett, recovering from a stress fracture in his lower back, isn't expecting that kind of production Thursday against Arizona if he is cleared to play in his first game since Feb. 9.

"I don't know how long I'll be able to go," Hackett said Tuesday. "I'm trying to go out there and first of all, give [my teammates] a blow if I can -- five minutes, six minutes, I don't know how much Coach [Tim Floyd] is going to give me."

Hackett has been cleared to resume practice today and has been working out on an exercise bike and elliptical machine to maintain his endurance.

This is of course great news as Hackett really is key to the overall performance of the offense and is scrappy on defense.

It will be great to have him back!

I'd just like to point out...
...that for one microsecond of bowel-loosening night-terror primal-scream fear, I thought that you were talking about a former football coach rather than a current basketball player.

Whew. Nearly had to ditch these pants altogether.

Anyway, agreed on the notion that coming back early and risking a full recovery is a bad, bad, idea. One shot at march madness isn't a good risk trade-off against possible years of health problems.
