GameDay Open Thread USC vs. UCLA

VS

Lets not get carried away here. The only thing that will be great to watch will be seeing O.J. Mayo and Kevin Love on the same court. I want to win this game but I am not delusional, this a pretty good team we are playing they have a lot of weapons.

SC needs to play smart and not get caught up in all the history and lore of Pauley. The crowd will be raucous enough so they need to keep their heads in the game and stay focused. Control the ball take some smart shots and a play some solid defense and it should keep it close.

The game is on here in NYC so I will be on line running the thread.

FIGHT ON!

WOW!
pretty good first half.

now you know they make adjustments but SC is playing them pretty tough. they are getting a LOT of steals on us especially when they collapse on the double team.

Floyd has them playing pretty good and the guys aren't looking intimidated. We'll see how they come out in the 2nd half.

I'm pleased but by no means thinking this is in the bag.

damn good first half
Love and Mayo are not working at their full potential (good on our part actually), and I love the close scoring aspects of it.

I hope that SC continues to stick it to them.

cautiously optomistic
...but this seems to happen every time we play a really good team. hang with them until the last eight minutes or so and just fall apart.

that's why they play the games
I f***in can't stand it, but congrats to your boys for playing a great game and for Pink for devising another good game plan. Spread the floor and drive, just like 2 years ago with Ryan Francis. I thought that we would be able to stop dribble penetration with out team speed, but Jefferson played well, so did Hackett. Not sure if UCLA really took 'SC that seriously after your 1-3 start, we looked very unfocused and obviously failed to execute down the stretch.

I had thought it would be close in the first (it was), but we would win going away in the 2nd given our defense, inside-outside balance and experience. But we were cold from the floor other than Shipp and we missed a lot of the shots USC gave us from the outside. USC wasn't hot from the outside, but you didn't have to be with a FG % around 65% or so, mostly on close looks.

We'll get you back in a few weeks in the Non-Events center. Looking forward to that rematch.
