Cowherd on UCLA
If you missed Cowherd's show today he had a nifty take on ucla. If you have ESPN Insider you can listen to today's show. His rant is in his "Honestly Speaking" segment about half way through. I did find a transcript of it on WeAreSC.com.
Here it is.
You just know they'll somehow end up finishing about ninth. It's too bad too because I like UCLA's coaches. I like their school, campus, & SID. But they are just the Virginia of the West.
It is daiquiris, baby blue uniforms, and daisy pickers. Lot 's of Anderson Cooper watchers. Great campus though, unbelievable campus, great medical center...it is just great.
But you know they will lose to one of the worst teams on their schedule. They are just Virginia of the West. USC is more like Virginia Tech. Just tougher. They got tougher kids than UCLA.
UCLA gets the suburb kids. A bunch of nice kids with nice parents. They drove the kids to school in the minivan. They just have a bunch of wussies. I like USC...they got street cred to me. The only street UCLA has cred on is the one with the Gap on it. No I'm serious! I'm not trying to be rude.
This is the honesty segment. Honestly UCLA and all those kids were dressed at the Gap. That is an Abercrombie and Fitch campus. You can't win a national championship in football when you have got more male cheerleaders than you should.
It's just not big boy football. There is just no street cred there...USC kids would beat them up."
Too Much!

That's freakin' awesome
I just read through the Pac-10 section of Steele's yearly almanac and I can see why he would rank UCLA third. Technically speaking, if they win all the games that they're "supposed" to win then an 11-1 season seems reasonable to me; but you have to figure that they will drop an easy game or two.

I'm sure you can find less despicable people to support your cause.

Should we continue to apologize
At least he's your side, he thinks we're thugs too!

puh-leeze
Cowherd is a tool. There isn't one thing in his entire inane comment that makes any sense. We are all dumber for having read it, and may God have mercy on his soul.

ucla is not going to be a pushover
ucla should thank cowherd for the locker-room material.
The only reason is see them finishing low this year is if Dorrell pulls out his "play not to lose" manual like he did in the ND game.

Cowherd
he's an idiot aside from that, too.
I'm a little disappointed, Paragon: it was bad enough that you linked to an article by that mental incompetent Plaschke...

First of all, it was a Joke
So, sorry for offending your powder blue sensibilities as well.
But in all seriousness, excellent Billy Madison reference.

Just to clarify...
Also, by no means was I seeking any sort of apology. I was just questioning why anyone would want to align themselves with a guy like Cowherd, regardless of the sentiment of his message.

give him time
Frankly his description sounds a bit more like Stanford, but that's just me.

Cold Blooded...
I hope UCLA finishes 3rd in the conference. Anything that keeps Dorrell at the helm is fine by me ;).

Come on Guys...
Regardless of weather or not you like Cowherd there is certain amount of entertainment in his show. I despised what he did to The M Zone with the Wonderlic thing and while I'm not a fan of the Big Lead, his taking them off-line was real bad act.
I listen to be entertained and nothing more every so often there is something accurate in his rants but I it take it for what is...entertainment. I don't necessarily agree with his assessment about ucla and the text version of the rant doesn't do how it actually sounded any justice. I also would not characterize my posting his comments as aligning myself with Cowherd but I also don't find him loathsome. I just found it funny that's all, different strokes etc.
As for Plaschke, well he is no different than any other print guy, they are all opportunists. Sometimes they get it right sometimes they don't, if I don't like I'll stop reading it.
