Impact Behind 5-Star OL Chuma Edoga

Nike Open Camp

Sarkisian continues to snatch in the top talent from around the nation.

USC continues to rack in the talent, and head coach Steve Sarkisian's next prize comes from Georgia. The newest five-star talent coming to Southern California brings size, speed and strength to the Trojans offensive line.

Edoga truly made a name for himself by dominating a local Nike Camp back in May, leading to his official invitation to the NIKE OPEN camp in Oregon later this Summer.

Out of Powder Springs (Ga.) McEachern, the 6'3, 277-pound Edoga turned in an incredible 4.86 40-yard dash, and other impressive testing numbers as well. But he wasn't just a workout warrior -- he also dominated during 1-on-1s, showing very quick feet and a mean streak. --SB Nation College Football

WHAT THE EXPERTS ARE SAYING

BIG PICTURE RECRUITING

While obviously landing such a physical specimen is huge in the short run, the fact that he's actively recruiting kids to join him (especially from Georgia) could be the biggest gain from this entire commitment. Combine him with the likes of quarterback Ricky Town, and the gravitational pull certainly broadens for the next three-to-four years.

Chuma told Rivals.com today that "I loved the academic tour USC. I want to study Aero Astronautical Engineering so I can design planes," so seems as if the entire student-athlete package certainly led him towards coming to Southern California.

Especially when the idea of unionization is ever present in college football, having players that can actively commit not only to football but also the educational experience, says a lot about what Pat Haden can provide for student athletes. Coach Sarkisian has been aggressive sending out offers, and if the bait catches then USC could really be set.

The two areas that coach Sarkisian's staff have tried to attack are one, right here in the Los Angeles basin, and also in the Deep South crop. Given the fact that over 150 recruits were in attendance at the Spring Game, USC is certainly working the phones and taking the steps to get their names out with plenty of scholarships to offer starting this season.
