Cynthia Cooper Hires Two New Assistants

+

After reaching the NCAA Tournament, and clinching the Pac-12 Tournament Title in unsuspecting fashion, USC women's basketball head coach Cynthia Cooper-Dyke has acquired some fresh faces to join her coaching staff for next season.

USC brings Beth Burns, the former San Diego State head coach who vaunts an impressive resume during her 21-year head coaching career, and also welcomes Taja Edwards (Carson, Calif.). Edwards, the former assistant at Cal State Fullerton, brings a nice taste to the Southern California recruiting circle as a former McDonald's All-American back in high school for powerhouse program Long Beach Poly.

That obviously means changes are coming to the staff, and previous assistants Brandi Manning and Evan Unrau (from the previous Michael Cooper staff) were not retained for next season. The Women of Troy will lose arguably their best player, a top-10 all-time leading scorer and dominant locker room presence, in Cassie Harberts.

But the rest of the roster does return, looking to build off an impressive postseason tournament run in their second season under coach Cooper.
