USC Recruiting 2014: Trojans Looking To Secure Four Prospects

USC target Damien Mama gets instruction from Detroit Lions DT Ndamukong Suh. - USA TODAY Sports

While 15 players are currently committed to USC, the final four spots could be filled with some talented targets.

The ever-mounting comings and goings surrounding top recruits may finally be starting to work themselves out as we approach next Wednesday's National Signing Day.

Steve Sarkisian and his staff have managed to secure strong commitments from many of their recruits, with the most recent announcement coming on Tuesday from three-star safety Uchenna Nwosu (Harbor City, Calif./Narbonne).

Nwosu, the 119th-ranked player in California by 247sports.com, committed to USC back in October after being initially offered by Ed Orgeron, and the L.A. native has stayed true to his word since then despite an offer and official visit to Washington over the weekend.

After officially announcing his commitment during the Army All-American Game earlier this month, No. 1-rated TE Bryce Dixon set the stage for his commitment to USC earlier in the week. Dixon told Blair Angulo of ESPN.com on Sunday that he is 100 percent locked into USC, dropping his UCLA official visit that was set for this weekend.

These expected moves, leave USC with four scholarship spots available for big-name players left on the market. The three closely tied So. Cal targets are Adoree' Jackson, Damien Mama and John "JuJu" Smith. While Smith and Mama took official visits last weekend, the USC coaching staff visited Jackson in Gardena at Serra HS on Monday.

The big question becomes whether all three of these players will lean towards USC? And if that happens, who would be on the radar as the fourth and final commitment.

That fourth and final spot opened up after St. John Bosco WR Shay Fields officially committed to Colorado on Tuesday. Fields was receiving less and less communication over the past few weeks once Ed Orgeron left (the man who gave him the offer), so he ultimately decided to play in Mike McIntyre's offense.

Fellow St. John Bosco prospect Damien Mama will follow up this past weekend's trip to USC with an official visit at UCLA over the weekend. Both Mama and Smith are members of the so-called "Uce Crew," a collection of 2014 Polynesian athletes along with current USC commit Viane Talamaivao, who are very close on and off the field.

USC sits in great position to land two, maybe three (Adoree' Jackson) of the biggest names left on their watch list as all three expect to make their announcements on ESPNU on National Signing Day.
