USC Football Morning Links: Future Prospect's Tale Bears Hollywood Ending

Stephen Dunn

Time to get some morning bites from around the media landscape dissecting the Trojans first road tilt in Pac-12 play. Long story short, the Trojans must come out like champions in Tempe.

While the bad blood continues to brew between ever-growing rivals from Southern California and Tempe, both squads continue intense preparations for their crucial tilt this weekend amongst the suddenly-loaded Pac-12 South.

"Its a loud place, awesome stadium, awesome grass and great fans, it should be a great game," Lane Kiffin said following practice, stacking his teams odds while looking to defeat ASU on the road this time around after faltering in the fourth quarter during their last road meeting back in 2010.

That being said here are some of the top stories from around the web previewing USC Football from the Tuesday landscape, including some personal stories of trails and tribulations for some of its best players.

NOTES AND QUOTES:

Just a fun side note from the Trojans practice this week, Kris Albarado, a sophomore punter from Lake Charles, La., helped stymie the Utah State offense with his precision punting in the Trojan’s 17-14 victory earning Pac-12 Special Teams Player of the Week Honors.

"We are always making adjustments in between series and plays, and for some reason we have been scoring points in the second quarter then we have in the first or third," Lane Kiffin said about his offensive lapses this season.

Five of his seven punts pinned the Aggies within the 20-yard line, including two inside the five, leading to an average starting field position for Utah State on their own 21-yard line. The first-year punter is averaging 40.3 yards on 23 boots, with more than half (12) of those backing opponents within their own 20.

Cody Kessler and Marqise Lee are getting healthier this week, and coach Lane Kiffin expects both to play on Saturday. The Trojans offense, in desperate need of continuity to continue its winning streak, will look to spark some life in Tempe only 17 points in their most recent victory over Utah State.
