Rick Neuheisel Serenades Coach Orgeron

Now it's USC and the team's improbable run under interim head coach Ed Orgeron that are the subject of Rick Neuheisel's latest vocal stylings. Fresh off USC's 20-17 upset win over then-No. 4 Stanford last Saturday, Neuheisel rhythmically ponders how far "Ed O" can take the Trojans during the latest edition of the Pac-12 Networks Football Podcast.

The revitalized Trojans, who have won their last four overall games and past 5 Pac-12 contests, are now 5-1 under interim head coach Ed Orgeron. Thanks in part to this impressive run back into the national rankings, Orgeron was named one of the 16 finalists for the Maxwell Collegiate Club Football Coach of The Year.

It's a list that includes Alabama's Nick Saban, Ohio State's Urban Meyer, Florida State's Jimbo Fisher, Baylor's Art Briles right from the very outset. These aforementioned coaches have yet to lose a game this season and all sit in the top four of the most recent BCS Standings.

Orgeron slides right into the race, as the coach who practically saved USC football since taking over for Lane Kiffin, although throughout the process the interim continues to thank his players for what they have done for this program.

"My first thought went to the players and the coaches and we got guys that are doing a tremendous job here and this is a total team effort," Orgeron said of being a semifinalist. "It's not about individual."
