Santa Cruz Warriors acquire Dewayne Dedmon

Former USC center, Dewayne Dedmon, was acquired by the Santa Cruz Warriors via the affiliate rule and added to the team's 2013-14 training camp roster.

The affiliate rule states that D-League clubs can retain up to three players from their parent club's training camp roster. Dedmon, along with Seth Curry (brother of Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry) and Joe Alexander were all retained by Santa Cruz after being waived by Golden State).

Dedmon appeared in five preseason games with Golden State, averaging 3.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in 10.3 minutes per contest. The 7-foot center played two seasons at USC after one season at Antelope Valley College. He averaged 6.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.1 blocks (third in the Pac-12) during his junior year as a Trojan.

Golden State coach Mark Jackson had this to say about Dedmon's NBA prospects after the team's preseason game vs. Sacramento (via Golden State of Mind):

"He's a very good athlete with the ability to shoot the basketball and can pick up things quickly on the floor. I really think that he is an NBA player today."
