Search For New USC Defensive Coordinator Continues

It's time to put the sour memory of the Meltdown in Chuco Town behind us. The better half of the Kiffin duo has walked the plank and CC looks forward to seeing USC's defense ranked among the best in the nation.

Here are just five names of prominent candidates for the position in no particular order:

Clancy Pendergast: Currently unemployed ex-DC under Tedford. Clancy is a solid coach with a mixed record at Cal from 2010 to 2012. He knows the Pac-12, but he fared worse with each year as the figured out his scheme. He will be hired if no one else wants the job.

Mark Banker: Mike Garret had a peculiar obsession with Mike Riley, a small town guy that said no to USC twice. So since we can't have Riley we might as well remove his right arm. Banker is a supple and heady DC, over the past 10 years he has produced tough and aggressive defenses and boatloads of All-Americans from a very limited talent pool. He also has a knack for thwarting USC's offense on an all too regular basis. Banker is head coach material and looking to move up. He will want to be USC head coach in-waiting. Promises will have to be made.

Pat Narduzzi: One of the most highly regarded DC's in the country. His hard-hitting Michigan St. Spartans are legendarily stingy against the run. He will have to adapt to the speed and passing attack of the Pac-12. Similar to Banker, Pat Narduzzi has head coach written all over him. Promises will have to be made.

DeWayne Walker: Walker has been a disaster at New Mexico State, but he has solid DC credentials. He was Pete Carroll's first defensive coordinator at USC. Recently has received attention from Sonny Dykes at Cal. One word: NO

Gene Chizik: The biggest name out there, Chizik rode the Cam Newton wave to the National Championship and crapped out in 2012. He might consider coming to USC to rehab until a head coaching position opens up. He has top level DC chops but also comes with high-end SEC Selaze Factor. His biggest card though is his friendship and work with his mentor Monte Kiffin. Yikes! Just say no.

Register your opinion now or Pat Haden will just let Kiffin do whatever the hell he wants. Only YOU can prevent this from happening :-P
