USC shooting guard Greg Allen has been ruled ineligible due to academics, according to a school spokesperson.

Reserve shooting guard Greg Allen has been ruled academically ineligible by USC, a school spokesperson said.

Allen had played sparingly this season after being a prime contributor for last year's injury-riddled squad. Last season, he averaged 4.7 points per game while playing 21.2 minutes in 26 games, including eight starts. Allen scored only 11 total points in seven games played this season.

With USC having significantly more depth, Allen fell out of Kevin O'Neill's regular rotation less than two weeks into the season. Allen averaged 10 minutes a game for the first four contests this season, but had seen only 14 minutes of action since. He hadn't played since December 15.

Allen was recruited from Navarro College to be an outside shooter for the Trojans. But after shooting nearly 40 percent from deep for Navarro, Allen struggled to make the transition from junior college to Division I. He shot only 29 percent on 3-pointers last season and was just two for seven this year.

As a senior, Allen's career is effectively over as a Trojan.
