The women's basketball finished the regular season on a high note with their season-best sixth consecutive victory. They defeated Washington State 65-54 and finished with a record of 18-11 (12-6), good for a third place finish in the Pac-12 and a bye to the quarterfinals of the conference tournament.
Ashley Corral was on fire, earning her third career double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Christina Marinacci and Cassie Harberts also notched double-digit point performances with 18 and 11 points, respectively. In the second half, USC built up a 15 point lead until Washington St. came back with a push to make it a six-point game with 3:30 to play. But the Women of Troy kept up the defensive pressure and held on in the final minutes to win by eleven.
USC will play the winner of the No. 6 vs. No. 11 seed game at the Galen Center this Thursday. Washington St. will be the No. 11 seed, while the No. 6 seed will be filled by either Oregon State or UCLA.
