The Year USC Caused Stanford to Play a Home Game in Berkeley

Over at California Golden Blogs, there's a new post up about hardball politics in the old Pacific Coast Conference, with Cal and Stanford trying, in 1924, to blackball SC for 1925 games over allegations of cheating. USC responded with a pre-emptive cancellation of 1924 games, leaving Stanford in the position of playing a replacement home game at Berkeley's stadium. The accusations of cheating are completely scurrilous of course, but there's some interesting historical detail including speculation about the scandal being a contributing factor to the departure of "Gloomy" Gus Henderson.
