Tee Martin? As in 1998 Tennessee Tee Martin?

That’s awesome. I have no idea if he can coach, but at that point in my life I was a Tennessee fan, so this is pretty cool to me.

Having lived in Tennessee all my life (not really a volunteer fan though), yes its that Tee Martin. I remember he was pretty dang good at UT.

Word is, this guy can recruit like a m-fer!

He was on Coach Saban’s short list last year, and some say he turned Alabama down. Saban instead went with Groh as receivers coach when Coach Cignetti (former recruiting coordinator for the Tide and receivers coach) left for a head coaching job elsewhere.

Kiffin is just ace-ing his replacement hires this year. I used to despise his arrogance, but. . . . .the dude can flat out charm, schmooze, and COACH! He sure doesn’t act his age, . . . . . .I’m thoroughly impressed with his maturity and savvy.

Nice Hire

He should help recruiting in SEC country. You think he may help with QB’s?

"The 2012 USC team has some serious unfinished business to attend to and I intend to play a part in it." - USC QB, Matt Barkley

Hell yeah!

Tee knows QB-ing, and he’s a master tactician- as referred to by Coach Joker Phillips. As a player and coach, the man knows all the necessary reads in a pro-style offense for a QB as well as being totally up to speed with route running and timing issues WR’s need at the college level. I know the SEC is known as “the” football conference in CFB- we all know through all their fans and the media that it is the “speed that kills” in the SEC. But, that being said- I don’t think Tee Martin has ever been on a campus with the offensive firepower he will be in charge of coaching here at USC.

With Martin’s help, I think Barkley will have a phenomenal season with the offensive coaches USC has at their disposal. Consider the fact that our running game will be a work in progress for at least until the Pac 12 opener in Palo Alto- I see Coach Kiffin giving Matt Barkley every opportunity to pad some stats in games we are able to wrest control of early on in our season. Hell, I think after the Stanford game- Tee will have Marqise, Robert, and George running roughshod over defenses. Couple that with our incredulous TE’s in Grimble and Telfer- I think our passing game will be volcanic!

As far as recruiting? Kentucky, as a program, is consistently behind the 8-ball. I think their 2012 class was the 10th or 11th rated. But in that conference, there is only so much of a geographic area of coverage encompassing some historically badass traditions of college football. Kentucky is a basketball school, straight up. What Tee did was he was able to keep in-state highly rated recruits to commit to Kentucky (Patrick Towles picked Ky’s program over Coach Strong’s Louisville). I’m not sure, but I think Kentucky had a mid-30’s rated recruiting class this year and Tee was able to poach some great kids from Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and the other USC. Going out of state is Tee’s expertise. The man gets in people’s ears and usually gets who he wants.

At USC, he’ll have much better resources at his disposal- financially, in support staff, and organization. USC is a brand that almost sells itself and Tee Martin is as good a closer as Urban Meyer was or used to be. That’s why Coach Saban wanted and needed Tee.

Can you imagine Tee Martin and Ed Orgeron out in Florida or Louisiana, hell- out in Ohio and Texas? F_ _ _ _ck! Is all.

[edit]

Kentucky’s recruiting class was 10th rated in the SEC conference. Mid-30’s nationally for 2012.

Nice.

Kiffen has been doing pretty damn well with his hires so far. Hopefully it translates to on the field success too.
