It will be interesting to see how the USC "brand" holds up on the media today

We are all managing our expectations on were the class ranks out. In the past, USC has signed relatively smaller classes but this year leaves no room for firing blanks.

But I will be watching to see how often commentary will segue into USC’s ability to attract premium recruits and our projected pre-season ranking.

Even with managing our expectations, I think we are going to be satisfied with today’s latest Trojans.

Gibraltar sized grain of salt...

The good news with all of the “Four” and “Five” star guys is, of course, their potential at the next level. The bad news is/can be in just how big the ego is and how small the stuff between the ears. SC’s latest ‘up close and personal’ experience being Dillon Baxter.. plus many others who ‘could’ in high school and ‘not so much’ in college. Sure, welcome and congratulations to all the new guys who chose to become a Trojan. High school is all in the review mirror now. So, get ready… and real… then don’t forget to arrive on campus in shape.

Because as it has in the past anything ucla does is an act of the gods, at USC the school realizes it is what it is commitments to a storied FB program.

The problem with ucla is they think if they sign a good class that it translates onto the field of play, but they forget to develop their players further from their HS days. Also they forget that this is football and not basketball where a few recruits can make a difference. Oh and Plan B has had better classes than this one in the passed 10 years but look where it has got them, plus having the kids that flip a lot aren’t the ones you want at your program. Those are the kids that usually like to barrow backpacks and laptops and jump the WALL.

Yes we can't play in a Bowl and that is lucky for the rest of College FB' but next year we at USC will dominate.

Stan Hasiak

Now with Oregon State.

Highly touted UCLA recruit, was supposed to help lead them to glory, instead became a monster head case and was kicked out. I’m pretty sure he has 9/22/2012 circled on his calendar.

by CPEM on Feb 1, 2012 2:44 PM PST up reply actions

Here's who is left

OL Kyle Murphy- 1PM
DL Aziz Shittu- 2PM
WR Bryce Treegs & Darreus Rodgers- 3PM

Shittu is not coming. He is going to Stanford. It will be a complete shock if he comes to USC. If we get Murphy and one of the receivers, that should button up this class.

by frak on Feb 1, 2012 11:44 AM PST reply actions

You have to wonder if

all the excitement towards the end of last season is propelling some of these guys to commit to SC. Only a fool would miss the fact that they’ll be playing with a winning team and possible title contender. Who doesn’t want to be on a team like that? I bet a lot of these recruits are looking at Matt and saying, “hell yes I want to play with Matt Barkley!” (okay that’s a given, but still)

This is shaping up to be one hell of a team AND a strong future team. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it’s damn good to be a Trojan right now! Future’s so bright….

LOCK IN... FIGHT ON!

The future

This is the most important class of the sanctions. These guys will hopefully propel us through the lean scholarship years. Hopefully USC maintains a top 15 team throughout the next three seasons. Then we can collectively thumb our noses at all of those twits at the NCAA and all of the other people who were predicting the fall of Troy.

Ditto

We just didn’t get any crazy-ass offensive players, and I think that’s what people might expect for us to get. So we didn’t get Jordan? The guy reminds me of Carroll. We lost out on a few big men, and some out-of-staters didn’t come through- that stuff was bound to happen someday.

Kiffin & Co. didn’t get spanked by any of our conference rivals, the way I see it: Oregon could very well be the big loser in all this. They’ve only received a letter of inquiry from the NCAA, and still it seems recruits might be reluctant to go to Kelly’s program. Aren’t the (on paper) a better team with more depth? Recruits should be begging to go to that school these days, now that USC is limited to 75 scholarship players.

Maybe they will leave a few open for midyear enrollees?

If we sign 15, then we have to take back a few scholies and we won’t be able to sign any mid-year enrollees.

I think we are at 11 or 12, which will put us only 2 or 3 above the limit.

We will lose Armstead, Scroggins and someone else during either Spring or Fall practice. Hopefully we don’t have to take away a scholie from anyone who really wants to be a USC.

George Uko
Antwaun Woods

Christian Heyward

That is obviously not enough depth for the position, but we should take solace in the fact that they will all be sophomores and freshmen in 2012. We are at risk this year but should be fine if we can get a few great DTs next year. We also have 7 scholarship DEs.
